If you are based in Florence and if you wish to go for a one-day trip you may consider an excursion to Brisighella out of Tuscany in the Emilia Romagna region. From Florence you can reach this charming little medieval town in only one hour and 30 minutes by train with less than 10 Euro for a one-day return ticket. In Brisighella you can visit the imposing XVth century castle (the “Rocca Manfrediana”) dominating the valley, taste some good wine (the famous “Sangiovese” and “Albana di Romagna“) with a piadina in the several “osterias” (Wine bars), enjoy the Spas or just take a stroll in the town centre. Also, at weekends in spring and summer time the are often several events on schedule, you can check here for the calendar!
